Mendocino Coast Animal Hospital – Testimonial

The decision to “go digital” was enough of a bump just because of the initial expense, but choosing a unit and finding someone to install it was even more difficult. I wanted an installation which included additional remote viewing computer stations in rooms different from the processor location. Our building is concrete block, old, and has some space limitations, so there were challenges. I wanted to be able to transmit images over the internet to consultants and an orthopedic surgeon who works with me on a visiting basis. I wanted to manipulate images in the exam room for clients.

I communicated with many small veterinary hospitals who had CR systems, asking about their experiences and recommendations. The most common complaint was about a lack of “support,” both for installation and with follow-up.

Now, I am not an IT person,  a computer expert, or a software engineer. I am a veterinarian and I just wanted a good functional CR; I wanted to take X-rays, not build a system. In looking at models from several different manufacturers and initiating discussions with the sellers, I was constantly left adrift with assurances which hardly felt sincere or reliable. Too many sentences were begun with lofty “You can just ……”

Then we were fortunate enough to hook up with Jeremiah Dufer of Digital X-Ray Technologies based in Redding California. Jeremiah didn’t just tell me at a distance. “Oh sure, just…” he drove five hours to my veterinary hospital, carefully assessed the situation, listened to what I wanted, made drawings, took notes, made suggestions, and answered my questions. Two days later, he sent me an exact quote for the whole arrangement.

We agreed on terms and a few weeks later, Jeremiah brought all the
components to my hospital and installed the entire system over a weekend so as not to disrupt normal business. On Monday, I had a great up and working CR system. Jeremiah stayed over until Monday to hold training sessions with all my staff. Over the next couple of weeks, I  repeatedly called Jeremiah with little questions about how to do something, to which he readily responded.

About two months later, something connecting to the internet wasn’t working quite right. I called Jeremiah and two days later, he was at my hospital replacing the faulty internet connection. Now that’s support! I love my CR system.
